A comprehensive off-design study was performed on a bubble column humidification-dehumidification (HDH) brine treatment system to bridge the performance knowledge gap between the on-design numerical studies and experimental investigations. By conducting experimental tests, a numerical model was developed based on the collected data. The research findings showed that optimizing the performance with respect to the mass flow rate ratio (MFRR) can improve performance when a parameter deviates from the on-design condition. The effectiveness of this optimization relies on the dependency of the dehumidifier's heat capacity rate ratio (HCRDeH) on the deviated parameter.
