Due to the growth and spread of digital technologies, especially the smartening of many daily human activities by means of computer systems and the emerging IoT applications, many tasks are accomplished by small smart devices that are classified as embedded systems. These smart systems are connected to one another by means of IoT communication technologies and have brought many potential and actual possibilities. The increasing trend in the number of connected devices in IoT and the volume of data they produce have significantly complicated their storage and process by using traditional mechanisms. As it has been estimated by many organizations, this issue will become one of the country's major challenges in the near future. Considering the penetration of digital technologies and smart life in development plans, it is essential to use integrated processing and analytical IoT platforms. An IoT platform is an infrastructure, which provides the possibility of connecting and managing different devices in a unified and centralized manner. These platforms allow devices to participate in data collection and exchange their gathered data by establishing secure, reliable, and efficient wired/wireless communications between physical objects and the digital world. By using such platforms, objects are able to send and receive information, analyze data and make smart decisions. Accoridngly, we have come up with a solution to tackle all of these concerns. PATRIIoT is an IoT platform, which has been developed by a group of enthusistic researchers in Iran University of Science and Technology, and Sharif University of Technology. This system can be used in many IoT applications such as smart city/buildings, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), retail, smart agriculture, natural resource management, telecommunications, smart medical applicatiuons, industry, and environment management applications. It is expected that public and private organizations, such as companies, universities, and research institutes, who are active in the field of IoT will be able to employ this platform for developing their product/research.
