Learn more about SharifLCA
There is a significant gap in conventional LCA models. They often neglect factors such as the dispersion of pollution, population density, and the location of emission sources. As a result, these models often simplify intricate realities, leading to imprecise results. While there are alternative methods that provide more precise results, they often lack a holistic life cycle viewpoint. The SharifLCA model proposes a novel approach, introducing a method and corresponding software that not only uses a life cycle perspective but can also be customized to consider the unique demographic, climatic, and other region-specific conditions.
The main innovations of the model we developed include:
Modeled Environmental Effects
SharifLCA software has the ability to evaluate various environmental effects:
- Human health effect including carcinogenic, non-carcinogenic (cardiovascular and respiratory diseases), ionizing radiation, ozone layer depletion potential (skin cancer and cataract diseases), and climate change (based on different climate scenarios)
- 20-years global warming potential, and 100-years global warming potential
- Resources depletion including cumulative energy demand and embodied water.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What should I do to get the commercial version of the software?
Download it from the download section of the website and to activate it, send us a formal request via email.
-
Are there any discounts available for educational institutions or non-profit organizations?
Yes. To find out about the conditions, please contact us via email. Also, the student version of the software is available for free.
-
Can this software be used for environmental impact modeling in all countries and regions?
Yes. Different parts of the software allow customization according to the system and the region under study.
-
Is it possible to extend the software license?
Yes. After the software expires, a window will open for you through which you can register your extension request.
-
I encountered a problem in activating the software, what should I do?
To resolve the issue, email us with a precise description of the problem and a screenshot of the error message.
-
What are the system requirements for running the SharifLCA software?
This software is compatible with all versions of Windows 7 and above, and both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Also, this software does not require installation.
-
How often is the SharifLCA software updated?
There is no exact time for the release of a new software update, but we are constantly working to improve it.
-
Which air pollution models can be used for modeling the dispersion of air pollutants?
The SharifLCA software uses a Gaussian model as the default for air pollutant dispersion modeling. However, for enhanced modeling, all existing models such as AERMOD, CMAQ, CAMx, etc., can be used; subsequently, the concentration data should be imported into the SharifLCA software.
-
At what height should the air pollutant concentration be given to the model?
At human breathing height.
-
Are there any workshops or webinars available to learn how to use the SharifLCA software?
Yes. Every year, webinars and workshops are held to introduce the software, and the related announcements are posted on this website.
-
How can I report a bug or issue with the SharifLCA software?
You can report any bugs or issues with the software through the form available in the “Contact Us” section. Also, you can directly contact us via email.
-
Is it possible to use SharifLCA software for all research works?
Yes, it is possible, provided that the software is cited as follows:
