Professor Farrahi obtained his PhD from Arts et Metiers Institute of Technology (ENSAM), Paris in 1985. After a brief time in England he returned to Iran, where he estabilished the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Bu-Ali Sina University and became Dean of Faculty of Engineering from 1986 to 1989. In 1990 he went back to England and joined the Structural Integrity Research Institute of University of Sheffield (Sirius) where he worked alongside the late Professor Keith Miller. In 1992 on his return to Bu-Ali Sina University he expanded the Faculty of Engineering as Dean of Faculty. Professor Farrahi joined the School of Mechanical Engineering at Sharif University of Technology in 1997. Over his academic career, he has held various leadership positions including the head of Applied Design Division and Chairman of the School of Mechanical Engineering at Sharif University. Professor Farrahi's research has a strong focus on structural integrity, mechanical design, and fatigue analysis. During his academic carrier, he has led a number of research projects in the area of structural integrity assessment. he has published more than 240 papers and supervised a significant number of graduate students, overseeing more than 20 PhD and 72 MSc students. Additionally, he has collaborated with prominent Universities like the University of Bristol, Brunel University and Cranfield University as Visiting Professor.
