Welcome

This course hopefully will help us to learn about the mechanics and dynamics of fluids. To see how nonlinear nature of this systems results interesting phenomena. And to know about the wide and useful applications of fluid dynamics both in industry and our daily life. But please take it in your mind that this is a Physics course and not an Engineering one.

Some homework problems require some computational work. A basic knowledge of computing (Mathematica or MATLAB) would likely come in handy.

A basic knowledge of Classical Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Differential Equations are necessary.

The main text is:

Fluid Dynamics for Physicist

By: T.E. Faber (Read this memorial about the author)

Further Readings:

The subject is well matured and you can find many text books on your favor.
I may recommend:

Fluid Mechanics by Landau and Lifshitz.

Also there are some Farsi books. One is a book written by Amir Aghamohammadi from Alzahra University and the other which is under preparation is written by Ali Najafi from Zanjan University. The latter is not available in market yet, however I will use some parts (especially the exercises) with the author’s permission.
