Doctor of Philosophy programs are designed to cover the recent advances in various fields of civil engineering, emphasizing on the specific needs of developing countries in general and Iran in particular. The educational objectives put more emphasis on postgraduate programs for the future. The majority of civil engineering students are Iranians. Foreign students are eligible on the basis of admission requirements set by the Iranian Ministry of Culture and Higher Education.
Ph.D. program includes various areas of concentration in Civil Engineering including: Structural Engineering, Off-Shore Structures, Water Resources Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Planning, Earthquake Engineering and Geodetics. Admission into the Ph.D. program requires outstanding academic record in M.Sc. degree and qualifying in the entrance exam. The doctoral program requires at least 6 semesters of course work and research. The course work consists of at least 8 postgraduate courses beyond M.Sc. degree.
