A cutting-edge tool for sustainable environmental management through life cycle assessment

Learn more about SharifLCA

There is a significant gap in conventional LCA models. They often neglect factors such as the dispersion of pollution, population density, and the location of emission sources. As a result, these models often simplify intricate realities, leading to imprecise results. While there are alternative methods that provide more precise results, they often lack a holistic life cycle viewpoint. The SharifLCA model proposes a novel approach, introducing a method and corresponding software that not only uses a life cycle perspective but can also be customized to consider the unique demographic, climatic, and other region-specific conditions.

Modeled Environmental Effects

SharifLCA software has the ability to evaluate various environmental effects:

  • Human health effect including carcinogenic, non-carcinogenic (cardiovascular and respiratory diseases), ionizing radiation, ozone layer depletion potential (skin cancer and cataract diseases), and climate change (based on different climate scenarios)
  • 20-years global warming potential, and 100-years global warming potential
  • Resources depletion including cumulative energy demand and embodied water.

    • Download it from the download section of the website and to activate it, send us a formal request via email.

    • Yes. To find out about the conditions, please contact us via email. Also, the student version of the software is available for free.

    • Yes. Different parts of the software allow customization according to the system and the region under study.

    • Yes. After the software expires, a window will open for you through which you can register your extension request.

    • To resolve the issue, email us with a precise description of the problem and a screenshot of the error message.

    • This software is compatible with all versions of Windows 7 and above, and both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Also, this software does not require installation.

    • There is no exact time for the release of a new software update, but we are constantly working to improve it.

    • The SharifLCA software uses a Gaussian model as the default for air pollutant dispersion modeling. However, for enhanced modeling, all existing models such as AERMOD, CMAQ, CAMx, etc., can be used; subsequently, the concentration data should be imported into the SharifLCA software.

    • At human breathing height.

    • Yes. Every year, webinars and workshops are held to introduce the software, and the related announcements are posted on this website.
